Cinematography
Cinematography has its own unique set of demands. Creativity is key. Getting the “right” shot, is crucial. It is often said that you can’t “learn” these skills, you either have it or you don’t!

Whilst CDS does not have vast levels of experience working in this field, I would certainly argue that I have a “creative eye”. I can spot the difference between a good shot and a bad shot, I intuitively know how to frame a subject, know what makes good content, capture good lighting, get the right expressions, etc.

Cinematography also has its own technical challenges. The ability to shoot and capture very high resolution video, such as 5.2K or 6K, is key. DJI’s Inspire 2, with CineDNG or Apple ProRes licenses and appropriate hardware, is ideally suited to this field. It is also superbly nimble and fast in the air, and has retractable legs for uninterrupted camera panning, which are both key requirements.

The Inspire 2 also allows two operators, ie one to fly the drone and one to operate the camera, to ensure the best shots are captured.

Note: the video at the end of this page below was shot and edited entirely by me, using a Mavic 2 Pro (prior to purchasing the Inspire 2) and Adobe Premiere Pro. You can also watch it in the Gallery section.
